Plutôt que d’offrir une vue sur ce site exceptionnel, nous avons proposé d’expérimenter la manière de vivre au Machu Picchu, de découvrir l’Eldorado tant recherché.
Comme un écrin protégé par de simples planches, cet hôtel est construit avec des matériaux légers, locaux et facilement transportables : une structure en bois, des murs en ballots de paille, un revêtement de tissus dorés. L'objectif? retranscrire par ce biais la typologie de l’architecture Inca, d'une façon contemporaine, drôle et durable.
Nous avons réfléchi à un habitat autonome, avec des systèmes de récupération des eaux et de chauffage naturels, adaptés au climat.

Ainsi, depuis le Machu Picchu, seul un grand mur de miroirs - capteurs de soleil est visible, comme un signal, une carte postale nous renvoyant l’image de la citadelle.

Rather than offering a view to this exceptional site, we proposed to investigate the ancient way of living on the Machu Picchu, to discover the long sought-after Eldorado.

A treasure simply hidden behind wooden planks, this hotel is built with materials that light, local and easily transportable: a wooden structure, strawballs, with finishing made out of golden textile. With the aim of re-interprateting the principles of Inca architecture, in a contemporary, funny and sustainable way.

The project consists of autonomous sleeping units, with natural water collecting and warming systems that are adapted to the climate.
